Publications on this website focus on the source texts of Hungarian sermon literature of late medieval and early modern times. Our research group Sermones compilati works on the digital edition of Latin incunabula (works of Pelbartus de Themeswar and Osualdus de Lasko, Bibliotheca compilatorum) according to unified rules of transferring.
The literal transcription of the Érdy Codex, the most complete Hungarian late medieval manuscript sermon collection, is being prepared by university students with multiple proof-reading, according to the evolved rules.
Conferences are organised annually on the research results related to the text editions, and the papers are compiled and published in Plaustrum.

Introduction
In the last few years our seminars with similar themes have turned into a workshop. The processing of the sources of our late medieval sermon literature provides the opportunity for various approaches: history of the Hungarian language, Latin philology, hagiography, exemplum-research, history of art, folklore, handling digital sources – these are the fields referred to by this volume of studies.
The writers are students continuing their graduate or postgraduate studies. The following works are not yet completed, but they represent the process of asking questions and finding answers, in the spirit of studium, endeavour and effort.
The token of arousing and keeping alive interest is urging to ask questions based on the sources. To popularize our researches we may count on the interest of educated readers, if we do not consider the extensive knowledge of the last one and a half century essential to the approach to sources. The enchantment of experience touches the amateur (it would be better to use the polysemous original Latin word amator), however, few of them can become professional researcher to map exhaustively all the branches of the examined question.
The title of this collection of studies is inspired by the title-giving paractice of our Latin sources: the plaustrum’s ‘wagon, cart, wain, constellation of the Big Dipper’ meanings evoke Osualdus de Lasko’s Biga Salutis, and Pelbartus de Themeswar’s Stellarium; seculi refers to our era and generation. Those who are familiar with volumes of incunabula aren’t surprised at such a metaphorical use of words: Pomerium, Viridarius, Elucidarius moreover Mammotrectus etc., that represent a regular title-giving custom of this time.
Some practical notes: the bibliography belonging to the studies appears – depending on its size – only in the footnotes or at the end of the paper. The literal quotations of the Érdy Codex follow the system of our new transcription in preparation, therefore, we model the special characters between slants (/). The way of writing of Latin texts when being transcriptions of incunabula sources follow the classical orthorgaphy.
Pictures are important parts of papers related to art history. Publishing these of high standard would exceed the financial possibilities of this edition. Therefore, it is reasonable to publish our volume completed with illustrations on the Internet.
